Blackberry didn’t had much of a good run in the smartphone industry as they planned it would.With consumer switching to Android and iOS, BlackBerry OS somewhat felt behind in this race.However, better late than sorry, Blackberry did eventually switched to Android, and came with some high-end devices like Blackberry Porsche, Blackberry PRIV, which resulted in a good comeback BlackBerry in the smartphone world,Blackberry DTEK50 and Blackberry DTEK60 being mainly responsible for it
Undoubtedly, Blackberry DTEK50 was a huge hit for Blackberry, and rumors and hype around the launch of next its version DTEK60 was a burning topic in the internet world. We loved DTEK50 and its unique design and features, and newly software first firm has just announced a successor to it DTEK60. If news and rumors are to be believed DTEK60 is “worlds most secure” Android Smartphone. Before going deep into the deep, here is a quick view on the specification of DTEK60
|Display||5.5” inches, 1440 x 2560 pixel, with scratch resistant glass, oleophobic coating|
|OS||Android OS v6.0 (Marshmallow)|
|Camera||Primary 21MP. Secondary 8MP|
|Storage||Internal 32GB, 4GB RAM, microSD upto 256GB|
|Bateery||Non-Removable Li-on 3000 mAh Battery|
Earlier nearly all high end devices of Blackberry, bet it PRIV, Passport and Porsche all had one thing in common, that was physical QWERTY keyboard. However a major change in the DTEK50 was it was all touch and this design has been used in DTEK60 as well, as it is all touch body just like its predecessor. However on a close look one can say it bear resemblance with Alcatel Idol 4S with a different design on back side.To ensure safety though Corning Gorilla Glass , a common feature is absent but, still it has scratch resistant and oleophobic coating.
DTEK60 boast of 5.5″ inch AMOLED display with HD resolution, similar to PRIV model.,which ensures a high density pixel display of around 534 pixel per inch(ppi). There were news and rumors about the display being in similar curve edges like PRIV , but that didn’t turned out to be true, instead, there are some slight curve toward the edges. However, the display aren’t anywhere near as pronounced as Galaxy Edge-like curve on the PRIV.
As far as camera department is concerned , if you are expecting features like dual lens and high resolution front facing camera, than you might be a bit disappointed.Although, it doesn’t have have fancy features like dual lens, it has front facing 8MP which does a decent job and rear facing 21MP shooter, which captures good quality of images. In spite of lacking dual lens you can still capture 4K video through rear facing camera and with front HD recording is possible.
There hasnt been much of a change in the Hardware specs. When you dig deep to detail you might it quite similar to all Flagship smartphone, with similar features like 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage expanding to 256GB with the help of micrsoSD and so on. However,one change is quite shocking , and thats the processor. Although it uses high-end Snapdragon 820 processor, but if you look at the competition, Products like Pixel, which uses Snapdragon 821 chip, its nothing. In short inclusion of Snapdragon 820 means you wont be able to enjoy features like Daydream VR on your DTEK60 even if you upgrade from pre-installed Android v6.0 (Marshmallow) to Android 7.0 Nougat. There is a Port C on the bottom edge f the phone which supports full USB 2.0, which is more than what we are getting in the form of 1.0.
